Health Directions - a preferred Electronic Health Records adoption consultant

IL-HITREC Awards Health Directions Contract to Spread Meaningful Adoption of Electronic Health Records to Primary Care Physicians in Suburban Chicago

Chicago, Ill. (March 16, 2011) -- Health Directions announced today that it has been selected as a preferred, vetted consultant to assist the Illinois Health Information Technology Regional Extension Center (IL-HITREC) in its efforts to spread the meaningful adoption of Electronic Health Records (EHR) to local primary care physicians. Under this new government-funded program, eligible physicians will be able to draw on the expertise of consultants for all aspects of their EHR implementation or optimization, including attestation for Stage 1 of Meaningful Use at little cost to the physician.

“The Electronic Health Records initiative is just getting underway in Illinois and it is important that physicians are aware of the available funding and services,” said Daniel J. Marino, President and CEO, Health Directions. “We are so pleased that Health Directions has been chosen to facilitate the delivery of health information technology to suburban Chicago-area PCPs.”

The contract provides for the delivery of services to more than 500 primary care physicians (Internal Medicine, Family Practice, OBY/GYN and Pediatrics) throughout the greater Metropolitan Chicago suburban area (suburban Cook, DuPage, Lake Will and Kankakee Counties). Health Directions will lend its expertise to these physicians to:

  • Assist in the selection of an electronic health record system (EHR) including hardware and network infrastructure and IT services.
  • Provide onsite project management for implementation of an EHR in physician’s office including individualized and on-site coaching, vendor coordination, consultation, troubleshooting, and other activities required to assure that the physician is able to use the EHR system in a manner that meets meaningful use standards.
  • Provide support for practice and workflow redesign necessary to achieve meaningful use of EHRs in an efficient manner.

“We are pleased to be working with Health Directions. They bring a wealth of experience and local knowledge to the primary care physician market," said Sharon Miller, Project Manager, Northeast Satellite Office, IL-HITREC.
